I wrote this track on the first snow in the winter of 2015. I was living in Indianapolis (which I hated) but spent the weekend in Chicago (which I loved) where I had a great weekend, hung out with a bunch of cool people and saw one of my favorite singer-songwriters. I was feeling trapped in Indianapolis, unable to move for another year due to a lease and other factors. I wrote this in my car right after the gig. This is the second version (the first is available on Have Fun Records Holiday comp 2015) which features my good friend Stone Irr on guitar and vocals.
lyrics
snowed in chicago tonight
and I sat alone in my car and cried
how is it possible sometimes to feel so connected but still feel so alone?
how is it possible sometimes to feel so in love but still be on your own?
I'm on my own
and when I get back,
I'm gonna throw my things in the trash
and get out of that house
It doesn't feel like home there
there's nothing keeping me here
I'm not home here
There's nothing keeping me here
stuck in a tough place tonight
fucking frustrated, alone i cry
